I was born in Avignon, France and spent my youth in Marseille, Provence by the Mediterranean Sea. After high school and a brief stint in Med School, I left for the US. There I got my B.S. in Biology from the University of Utah and then my PhD in Microbiology from the University of Texas at Austin.
