With a degree in English, I had intended to write books when I was out of college but soon found I could not support a family doing that. So, I taught school both at the high school and college level. I went to graduate school studying mathematics. That led to a career in technology. I worked at a research center for 15 years. Following that, I was vice-president of a database company. And then one day, I said the kids were all out of college and self-supporting.
