Growing up in a home with teacher parents exposed me to books early in life, and being shy, I took to reading as a way to meet and experience the world without threat. Even before learning to read, however, storytelling captured my imagination. At four or five I was making up my own bedtime stories. So writing seemed a natural progression. And when I discovered and fell in love with science fiction and mysteries, of course I began writing SF and mysteries.
