I began writing at an early age; my family were all big readers and I discovered in kindergarten that those funny little squiggles teacher made on the blackboard were letters, and letters made words, and words made sentences, and sentences made stories. My father was an army officer and we were stationed in many isolated posts all over the world and I turned to writing to entertain myself.
