I don't have much of a background in professional writing. The first time I realized I was pretty good at writing when I was in grade six. Every three years we had to write government issued tests and there was a written element to the English exam and since we only had thirty minutes to write a piece of written prose we were given practise writing. On one of these particular practises the teacher would read outloud a particularly good piece. I was shocked and delighted to find out it was mine and that's when I was hooked.
