Writing essays in college kept my grades out of the dumps. Took that as an omen. Soon developed a fondness for the written word. A blessing and a curse, I’m one of those writers who feel compelled to scribble down bits and pieces at all hours, whether in the bathroom, or on the freeway. Keep it all in a box until it rises up like a mummy from the grave and demands I give it life as a book. Major influences include Lawrence Durrell (especially Justine from his Alexandria Quartet).
