Introducing Otha Lee (pen name) Otha was born black, poor, and country in Arkansas to hardworking parents: Father - Farmer, Mother - Teacher/Hairdresser. Growing up she worked hard on the farm, and in school, earning a scholarship for the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff at age 16. Four years later, she graduated with honors and soon afterward married a schoolmate. By September of that year she had been hired to teach in West Memphis, Tenn.
