Dean served in the Army as a security police officer in S. Korea, and in Germany as a SO prep., subsequently employed for twenty years as a graphic designer. His hobbies have included fine art, bodybuilding (runner up in the Mr. Midwest Titan Naturals, and trophied in the Mr. Wisconsin State Championship. His favorite authors are Michel Faber, Neil Gaiman, Dean Koontz, Greg Bear, Tolkein, Verne, Burroughs, Wells, and King.
