J.S. Deaton makes her home in Owatonna, Minnesota, where she shares her life with her husband, two sons and their two dogs. She graduated from a small Christian college in south central Minnesota and uses those experiences extensively in her writing. Her favorite stories to write are fantasies, with strong moral characters that get through life using their brains, muscles, and sense of humor.
