I wish someone had warned me about being a writer. I wish someone had taken the time out of their busy schedules to smack me in the back of the head. I wish I'd known just how heartbreaking it can be, or just how little I'd earn, for a huge investment in time, energy and emotion. I wish I had known about the scams and the pain of rejection before I started. It wouldn't have changed anything. I'd still be a writer, but it would have been nice to have some warning.
