Benjamin Sehene is a Rwandan writer, born in Kigali, Rwanda of Tutsi parents. At the age of four his family was forced to flee into exile. He grew up and went to school in Uganda. In 1984 he immigrated to Canada where he started writing in 1988. In 1994, he was living in Paris, France when the genocide begun in Rwanda.
