Dr. Gerald S. Norde is the first Black American to graduate with a Ph.D. in Sociology from the University of Delaware, 1985. His dissertation topic is the sexual and reproductive relations between the South's slave owners and their female slaves. He holds a Master of Science degree in Education, Southern Illinois University, 1975, and a Bachelor of Arts degree (Spanish Major), Southern Illinois University, 1971.
