A child of the Deep South, Boleman-Herring relocated early to opulent, post-war California, and torn-and-bleeding post-war Greece. The contrasts unnerved her at 10; unnerve her still.

Her first book of poetry as an adult (there were two books published in childhood) was "The Crowded Bed," published in Greece in the 1980's by Lycabettus Press.

A student of James Dickey and Henry Taylor, Boleman-Herring also publishes jazz lyrics under the name Bebe Herring, and thinks it doesn't get any better than Johnny Mercer. . .AND Archibald MacLeish.
