inside we sometimes feel like
a worn-down fragile road
that has been crumbled under
the foot of unforgiveness--
particles of our dented faith
are left for dust that
once again collect in
corners of our reason to be,
and we question our purpose;
inside we sometimes feel
like we will be emulsified by
the heat of trials by fire
that cannot be contained,
and the backdraft of guilt
spreads thru joint and marrow,
literally eating up the last
of our worth;
but when we are made to
feel the heat of the pressure
that seeks to break us
into pieces of sand
it is then that the Spirit of God
rains down dewdrops to smooth
down the treadmarks,
leads us down the road
into serenity's valley of changes
we cannot control, and challenges us
to recollect our thoughts,
rebuild our foundation of faith,
and like David, be restored.
