Poem Artwork

why does the wallet picture

look nothing like the driver's license?

is the SSN a match with

the birth certificate?

what do the references

have to say?

family members?

how did our snitches do?

does this person reside

in a high crime zip code?

any clubs?

secret societies?

is there history of instability

or lateness,

or civil rights litigations?

jail time. . .outstanding warrants. . .

how about probation?

is the insurance paid up and

can we ignore offering

benefits???

how can we know that this person is

honest?

well-mannered?

body odor tamed?

is the hairstyle civilized?

teeth straight. . .

polished politically white?

do this person's shoes match

our dress code on accessories?

just what kinds of schooling

or honors does this person obtained?

overextended on credit. . .any collateral?

just how much pressure

can be exerted. . .

just how taut can we draw the string?

"Dishonest company, run by professional crooks and thief-accountants, with erratic pay offered, looks for honest, faithful, hard-working and reliable employee." Nice write, loved this. Franz

Cynth'ya, sometimes people have societal nooses hung around their necks for mistakes long past. And sometimes unjustified. Two wrongs do not make a right, but they make the person throwing stones feel better that they are not like the one being stoned. It is fine to do what is necessary to protect self of company or fellow man, but many have no forgiveness in them and spit venom and hatred at every turn.
Bill Murray
