Who will listen to the families who sacrifice just as much when the soldiers come home maimed in mind and/or body for life?

Thursday, November 4, 2004

Poem Artwork
we speak of coexisting
but how do we coexist
when the weavers of
the security cloaks
are too nearsighted
to anchor down
the unraveling hemline
of the soldiers' trust?

we speak of a new world pattern,
but how can freedom's
cloth be weaved
if those who are fitted
for wear and tear
are improperly labeled,
one war fits all?

we speak of healing
but how can we heal
when those who distribute
affliction have never born
the stretch marks of a
still-born promise?

This is superbly expressed poetry as well as a poignant message.
Cynth'ya, you have my sympathy, up here in Canada.

I hear you, Cynth'ya. Keep asking the right questions and perhaps
others will too. Nicely expressed.

Excellent write here. We must have had the same thing on our minds this morning--except you said it so much better than I. This is a keeper.
