Playing poets hookey against common sense for sake of release

Saturday, March 11, 2006

Poem Artwork

spirit whimpers
as my brain throws
2 a.m. tantrums
in objection to not being
able to express what is behind
the eye of this clutter'd mind,

and in a manner of speaking,
it is as if my fingers are all but
imprison'd, on lockdown where
ideas are subject to visiting hours
and even the bliss of reading
is threaten'd by a future
that dims my grandest joy

common sense brandishes a
fickle finger of caution, yet its
image does nothing but vanish
with each wag in the face
of verses seeking escape.

Author's Personal Note: The graphic above depicts a half-moon type shape very similar to what I see floating in my left eye's field of vision. The spots are representative of many dark specks too numerous to count. Since I've curtailed my writing my dreams at night, and during the day when napping, are extremely vivid and real from a lavish lifestyle to down right rated "R". The frustration of waiting on my retina to decide what it's going to do is a test of faith. Still, I will not complain. . .even though I will never pretend not to be human as this is effecting so much of how I feel about my own projects. So to stay busy, I'm helping with a political non-partisan campaign for a dear family friend, but nothing takes the place of writing when it's part of your soul.

So I cope doing what I can when I can, and being thankful for sight when it could be much worse. In all things, we must give Praise to Son of God, The One who is Purest Light of all other lights both earthly and angelic.

love y'all,

clr

i know the feeling of having to let it out, this poetic thing, is what separates true poets from those who just like to write. your skill with language, and obvious self-examination takes your craft to the next level and gives those of us still working on it inspiration to continue to grow! great work!

Cynth'ya great advice from Sherry Heim, get that tape recorder. I'm going to do that to write my upcoming novel. Stay strong..Peace, love, health and blessings. Mikii

Cynth'ya, carry a small tape recorder and speak your poems into it. This way you will be able to put them on the page much quicker and not put so much stress on your eyes. I know that reading is tough, I have lots of black spots and "floaters" in my eyes too. So far nothing has been said to be wrong with my retina, which is good, but still it makes my eyes tired and makes it difficult for me to read books, etc. Here, I use an LED screen and I keep my print large so I don't get so much eye strain. I hope you will find a way to be able to do these things you love, but in the meantime, know that we do understand and I will keep you in my prayers.
Take care,
Sherry

Sending love to you...Oh I have those blots of black spots swinging in front of me all the time...like spiders on a string...I call them the spiders and cobwebs of my soul!!

Ah, those 2am spurts of writing clarity, I know them well, but I just thought my muse was a night person. Just keep the faith and trust that time will heal..

I agree with Carmen, Cynth'ya - there is just something about 2 AM. And our thoughts and prayers are truly with you concerning your present eye difficulties. Keep the Faith!

What is it with 2:00 am? It must be the inspiring hour -- that's when all the good ideas hit me: when I'm half asleep. I think perhaps that the hour of dreams and perhaps, the best thing to do is go to bed and dream! I keep a notepad on my night table. I agree with Karla: that first stanza hit the spot. You're in my prayers, sis.

You are in my prayers, sweetie; just trust in Him, and you WON'T go wrong!

Expect a call from us either today or tomorrow; can't WAIT to talk with ya!

(((HUGS))) and much love, your friend in Tx., Karen Lynn.

Powerful, emotion-filled piece; very well done! Thanks for sharing!

Cynth'ya,

A powerful, powerful write--rife with meaning and imagery, very well penned. I particularly enjoyed the opening stanza--I have those 2:00 AM tantrums on occasion! LOL

You and Kenny are in my prayers. Love you!

(((HUGS))) and love, Karla.
