The thrill of the annual physical...I'd rather be reading Jane Eyre

Poem Artwork

hop on table
spread with paper
shine light beam in eyes like laser

loosen strings
of "fashion" gown
breath in & out, (don't make a sound)

tap on kneecaps
press sagg'd breasts
EKG taps hidden stress

open mouth
go "AH" real wide
count new cavites inside

spread toes press sole
of foot on right
may dance with Dr. Scholl tonight

part aging scalp
shine down the beam
Queen Alopecia's on the scene

drum the boobs
part thighs and stare at
coochie sprouting straight white hair

flip the script
check back door
Lordy! one can't stand much more

Dedicated to my dear sistah-girls, the Texas Twins:
Karla "Stormspinner" and Karen "Texas Tornado"  whom I try and speak to by phone weekly. ("Parts" was inspired by Karla's "Tin Man" poem).

And that is all before the list of tests that they have in store for you...all that stuff is so humiliating. First they take enough blood to sustain a pack of vampires for three days, then there is the joy of the mammogram where you feel like someone has parked a Mack truck on your boob and then they tell you to hold your breath and don't move...what are they thinking?...who could possibly breathe??? Inhale once and your breast would probably tear away from your rib cage...move??? Huh? your titty is squashed, and clamped between a metal plate and a piece of glass...where in the heck do they think you might be moving to????...perhaps we are going to drag that giant machine and head straight for Disneyland?? Then...after 50 the colonoscopy...lawd!! is any part of me sacred anymore? This getting older stuff certainly isn't for whimps, is it Cynth'ya? I am glad to see that you can apply a little humor to the situation, though. Fun write.

Take care,

Sherry

Joyce B.

OH my God, this is sooo funny, Cynth'ya!! I nearly fell off my chair! I love it -- it's honest and true, hysterical, and an accurate account of the awful physical! Fantastic!~
Love,
CJ

LOL When one checks in at the doctor's office, they check their dignity at the door: what's with your doc, anyway? Two presses on the boobs? I'd get another doctor!! LOL

You capture it dead on in succinct verse: hope the report comes out clean. :)

(((HUGS))) and love, Karla.
