Corporate America has lost its warped little mind. Even top paying executives are at the mercy of the world economy. College degree students and retirees are saying "Welcome to Walmart" at 2 a.m. in the morning for minimum wage.

What is your 'Plan B'?

We are often numbed by the state of the economy with entertainment and sports with a tool of the media trade called 'March Madness'. Then after the game, everybody has to worry about how to pay the bills who doesn't own a basketball team.

By the end of 2007, according to Newsweek, more than 50 percent of Americans will be able to beat the odds of a rotten economic future with a part-time business they operate from home. If the government can't help us, we may as well all learn to help ourselves.

Money and jobs disappear overseas

Americans still uninsur'd from disease

Distinguish'd pen pushers bear down with brute force on

Domestic affairs with such lawless recourse

Economy's sold by the bid that's the highest

Stale dollars once fresh always tax'd with a bias

Stop the madness before we all vanish from view

Stop the madness now, it effects me & you.

(Author's note: The poem title is spell'd in symbols of double and triple lettering: The "double Ds" stand for "Direct Decision"; The "triple S" stand for "Stand, Support, and Salute" for our veterans who need all the help we can give them as independent business owners and aspiring entrepreneurs. They are dying and getting shot up for us so we can OWN our OWN businesses, and OWN our OWN freedom. I don't know about you but I'm sick and tired of seeing "Made in 'every other country EXCEPT' America" on everything that I spend money on that comes into my home. How about you? Get ownership, that's the only freedom left in this nation and this world since the United States in pimpin' out every single job that built this great nation.

Once again, we are looking at a time when having a trade or a business that we can control ourself, as being the best way to go. Corporations don't have the personal interactions with their employees that the family-owned businesses once possessed and we become a number instead of a human being. We are used for what we have to offer and then cast aside when we no longer fit their dream. As with all things in life, we must be the captains of our own ships and we must be the ones who secure our own futures. Excellent message here, Cynth'ya. It is time to put our needs and wants into proper perspective and learn one from the other, if we are ever going to survive.

Cynth'ya,

Not only in March for me, but every day of the year, the Maddnesss...we pay CEOs, athletes, movie and stage stars ridiculous salaries, while going broke in the process of trying to just survive. Is it our fault? Sometimes--we pay ticket prices to see movies and concerts, putting money in their pocket. When is enuff going to be ENUFF????????? That's why I don't go to movies or buy records (okay, CDs--I've dated myself) anymore. Can't afford it. Food is more important...thanks for letting me rant. An excellent poem that forces us to look at the Maddnesss we've created.

Makes you wonder who is making all these decisions on our economy....the exodus of productivity will eventually catch up to us....it already is making it way upon us...
