Was it not 148 years ago
on the steps of the Illinois statehouse
that a tall slim figure of a man--
a man of modest means
spoke out against people who
were afraid to give up power
over human beings called slaves?

Was it not 160 years ago that
Elizabeth Cady Stanton and
Susan B. Anthony began a
call to change that took
American men 70 years to
say to women in this country
"Yes We Can" when it came to
women's right to vote?

Was it not 40 years ago
that America used fear
and terror to kill..."The Dreamer?"

Was it not 148 years later
in 2008 that another tall
slim figure of a man--
a man of modest means
spoke out and said
we should be a nation of
WE THE PEOPLE...and not
WE THE MEDIA. . .?

Will THIS be a time in our history
where people will stop playing
word games and start listening
to the minds of the women who
gave birth to the leaders who
listen to wise women who want
to heal this great nation who is
about to lose its soul to the media?

Women's Suffrage Movement in History

Authors Note:  A very good friend of mine is married to a professional computer expert who worked for NBC for 3 years, who also attended Trinity United Church of Christ and taped Rev. Jeremiah Wright's sermons 3 times a week for 19 years. My husband Kenny and I attended an Obama Block Party where over 80 people were in attendance at our friends home.

The discussion was very candid, and we found out that Rev. Wright is a builder of people--that the "chickens come home to roost" comments were used as an example of what a United Nations Ambassador said whom Rev. Wright quoted--not out of disrespect for America but out of observation of acts that American leadership has committed not only against its own people but the nations of other countries and how other nations see the duplicity of a lack of equality and fairness that all of us deserve to have. 

When is American Media going to stop dealing in fear and editorial snippets and start serving us a dose of the truth in love, not in fear? My answer is "never" because the media is run by the same corporate entities who back people who don't care about people. That's my opinion and it's too important for ALL of us to speak up before the government tells us to shut up. Regardless of your party, contact your congresspersons because THEY are the ones who will vote for or against anything and everything that has to do with all of us. Our job is, in my opinion, to vote a president into office who will not create division because of past personal behaviors, who respects all people and who will not use people for their own personal gain. 

America, why do we pray for a change, and then question it when it is set before us? It took some folks called the Old Testament Israelites 40 years to wander in wilderness after complaining so much about the pharoahs in Egypt to get to the promised land. Once they got to the very edge of it, even Moses didn't get in because he DID NOT BELIEVE.

However,  everybody under the age of 20 was allowed entrance if I understand the story correctly. But wasn't it the old heads were so boneheaded about the past that God denied them entrance?

They were not believers in "the change" but the young generation became "the change."  Let's not ask for a brand new gift if one is presented to us and we throw it back for a recycled piece of junk.
