earthlin's

by Cynth'ya Lewis Reed — Read all 584 poems by Cynth'ya Lewis Reed

In memory of George Carlin. I didn't always agree with the man but I'll defend his right to say it. . . right on 'G'

Wednesday, June 25, 2008

Poem Artwork

some earthlin's feed on
GREED

make fame their focus
riding on backs of peasants
whose bones they lick and chew
once their flesh is all gone....
they sing with glee while
piling up financial corpses
on their way to the glue factory. . .

HOPELESSNESS

this is the earthlin's
ultimate goal...they expire
what is left of dreams in
what were once vibrant dares,
but now they are nothing more
than a cocophony of dead
broken sheriff's sale homes,
abandon'd neighborhoods,
uninhabitable war regions
and wailing wards all occupy'd by
former humans who shiver in fear
with each and every flick of the
finger-smear'd remote device

WHOOSH! BANG BOOM!

What say you now?
another family is fell'd by
the earthlin's sword?

The FOX never listens to the truth. . .

WHO are these "beings"
for they are anything but
HUMAN....they use, maim
rape and slaughter and the
stench in the atmosphere
brings forth barrelfuls of
salt-stripp'd tears....for you see. . .

when doves cry. . .
earthlin's pluck their feathers
dip them in OIL and
they fry them alive...
suck on their bones....
make flutes of the skeletons
that used to be wings on which
the future once soar'd. . .

but now, they too, have
crack'd and fallen
down Down DOWN
to the abyss of those
who forgot to trim the wick
of Lady Liberty's torch...

the oil is gone
the wick is fray'd
and the nation is
crying in the darkness
for human beings who
chose to be more than
merely "earthlin's"

Informative and good post. We want more out of this world right now than we are getting. Likewise earthlins are here to stay, I suppose.
