Poem Artwork

My attempt at a "Romantic" write, but in the ghostly spirit of Halloween!

Quixotic Hauntings

Beneath the blanket, by candlelight
In the smallest corner of  never
Merging in blend, once and again
Two lost in dreams....forever

Tracing the contours of hand upon skin
Mapping all smooth sans the light
Warm, gentle frictions, fire as kin
Flaming the scorch of hard night

Arched as the pathway opened for slide
Thrust and withdraw on the glide
Crashing in moistness, climax the shores
Fire and waves in collide

There in the corners of never and always
Shadowed caress cannot  feel
Many a heart have been yoked by the whisper
Of love which was there, yet unreal

Pax

Anita,

This is an awesome poem, especially when read aloud, because of the wonderful metre and rhyme that flows so naturally from your pen.

I love how this poem romanticizes but pinches you to let you know you're dreaming.

I have always found a passionate yearning that can never reveal itself is a very painful experience. Sexy, powerful poem that describes that yearning all so well. ~ Sara

Whoa Anita... the heat is surely ON...this is hugely sensual and wow have you blended your words in fabulously fashioned steam...And to think from the title, I thought it was going to be all about Halloween....must be the child in me, but I let the woman read a few times. Sizzle....

Very nice, Anita -- I especially adore the line, "There in the corners of never and always..." Geez oh man, that's beautiful. I wish I had thought of that (wink).

Many a heart have been yoked by the whisper
Of love which was there, yet unreal

What better than to be joined to love - genuine, limitless, undying love. My understanding of love was distorted in an era and perhaps culture that did not believe in wearing its heart on its sleeve. In our somewhat pragmatic, stolid household love was not whispered nor was it touched, approached, given or recieved. To think of love any other way was to be idealistic - that was me to a T, an idealist with a cause: to be haunted by the ideal of love, real love, even unto madness...
