You are also caught with the fact that man is a creature who walks in two worlds and traces upon the walls of his cave the wonders and the nightmare experiences of his spiritual pilgrimage.Morris West

Dreams Of Hide And Seek

I would not say, on the moment
All I thought upon that day
My thoughts were a tornado
Spiraled on parade

From first to last
No two did match
Yet wore the face of kin
Fraternal seed within the split
Raised apart....yet twin

I could not think in a sequence
My thoughts burst everywhere
In torment they ran riot
To blast my very air

Round the buzz came every night
Drilling sharp my dreams
In and out, came hiss and shout
The two, who lead the team

No valor for the quiet
No honor for the meek
No safety in dismissal
In dreams of hide and seek

Since I began writing poetry , towards the end of each year I try to give life to embryonic drafts I find on scraps of paper, in my journals and on the pc.  This is one such poem.  What I added here were the last three stanzas.

Something powerfully stated takes on an importance and a sheen of truth...whether rightly so or not.

I suspect you were smiling as you wrote this...enjoying the power of your pen.

Well done.

Happy New Year to you.

Dreams of Hide and Seek may appear rationally illogical, but your work is always meticulous and well-ordered and therein lies your power as a writer. Your fun and upbeat tempos as well as your gracious ebbing-and-flowing writes are all like a beautician's nails: polished and flawless! It would be a challenge to find even a word out of place, let alone a "chaos" of ideas. Wonderful denouement here. My love and peace to you at this turning of the year, dear friend. I am soooooooooo glad you rejoined the throng at AD. You are a light and shelter in this place. Bless you and have heapsa fun this holiday season with your delightful daughter... she may even drag you to a party or two!! :)) LOL K xx

A poem to be read many times. The content has an edge to it but the verse flows so well....interesting juxtaposition. JM

Always diverse themes that stimulate my mind, this is a forceful write that left me contemplating much. As has been said that last stanza is so strong and I am left looking at some fears inside knowing I have to face them. Stimulating!..and have to say that's one hell of a graphic to complement this great piece. Happy New Year Anita, Panda :)

Quite a year-end summary, Queenie - and quite a quote - once again.

And a very Happy New Year to you, too!!

I could not think in a sequence
My thoughts burst everywhere
In torment they ran riot
To blast my very air

In situations like this we feel like we're wearing the outside in as well as the inside out - a recipe for chaos (a riot). A writer once said that in order to sort himself out he went so far inside that he came out 'the back of me'He chased his thoughts everywhere trying to grasp the first in sequence, then set the rest in order. In other words, in torment, he was blasted out by his intellectual, intuitive, and emotionally disordered air.
Your words also remind us that even as we lay our weary head upon the pillow, hoping to escape the 'hiss and shout' of the day, we find its legacy is not resolved in a dream but in a nightmare game of hide and seek. What's it we say? 'Sleep well'? Aye, sure.
I could don my reflective hiking boots and dare to ramble deeper, but the depth and height of one verse alone threatens cerebral blisters. No chance!
Enjoyed interacting with your evocative words as ever, hen.
Dai.

This seems to be coming at me from all directions, feeling like I need to duck so as not to be stricken down by a confused piece of a dream. It hits me like a fever dream where things are somewhat askew yet cohesive. You have some great lines in this one, Anita. Happy New Year to you and yours.
Take care,
Sherry

WOW Anita ...

Very different write. Cuts the senses like a scalpel.
Love these phrases:
"In torment they ran riot"
"Drilling sharp my dreams"

A powerful last stanza, and so true. What I gleaned was if you want to find new fertile lands you must press forward into places where you are uncomfortable and vulnerable.

Peace out Sanguinea of the Tenth Level Dynasty ...
