Purpose

by Jill Eisnaugle — Read all 611 poems by Jill Eisnaugle

Sometimes, we can only do what we love until the time comes for us to be what we were meant to be. We never know when that moment will come, so cherish the simple ones.

Poem Artwork

Each one of us is diverse
Yet, in ways, we are the same
With goals we choose to rehearse
For the hope of wealth or fame
But, in the end, most often
As our dreams so quickly fade
We find our visions soften
To the purpose we were bade.

We all seek greener meadows
And a warm place in the sun
But looking out the window
When, at last, the day is done
We often see the lifestyle
That we are destined to lead –
Our purpose, after awhile
Seeming much like what we need.

We travel for our free will
And do so by plane or car
A yearning we must fulfill
By enjoying days afar
But when that journey’s over
Our purpose in life shall be
Still waiting midst the clover
That creates our legacy.

Great poem, Jill. Beautiful rhyme and flow as well as content. I think our purpose changes several times in our lifetime. We take on a challenge, once complete, we address another. Purpose is the steps on the ladder of life.
Take care,
Sherry

How true, Jill - and amazing to me - I almost used this picture on a poem today - I love that picture!

'Tis true, we usually settle down comfortably in whatever nook or cranny our life has built for us. This was very good.

Ah, wanderlust forever... just to come to rest "midst the clover that creates our legacy..." love that line, Jill. A beautiful creation!

we never know the hour! it is so true and interesting how the muse of us all speaks the same message to those willing to listen...this is similar to one i penned yesterday titled "labor pains"

you did a remarkable job of keeping it in rhyme and time

:)
