Each time I walked the concrete trail
Between my house and yours
My sight would travel, without fail
Beyond your veneer doors
And rest upon the gated place
That served to make you proud
A wonder rich in style and grace
Where your life was endowed.
The fragrance, there, was like perfume
So sweet and so surreal
Yet, deep within each yellow bloom
And all it did reveal
I saw a glimpse into your heart
That no illness could seize
For while dementia played its part
Your roses brought you ease.
I walked the concrete trail with you
And led you by the hand
As petals kissed by morning dew
Helped you to understand
The love I had always perceived
And evermore shall hold
For all that your life had achieved
And your roses of gold.
You have been gone, almost eight years
And yet, I see your smile
In every rose bud that appears
To make the day worthwhile
I think of you, each day I live
Grandma, you made me proud
You had so much true love to give
My heart is e’er endowed.

Love & Light,
Joseph
All my grandparents are gone now, and I miss them all so dearly. They all had something that is sorely lacking in this modern time.
Unconditional love and wisdom!
