Your Smiling Face

by Jill Eisnaugle — Read all 611 poems by Jill Eisnaugle

A poem about a meeting whose legacy lives well beyond that day.

Sunday, July 2, 2006

Poem Artwork

A smile that shown of golden beams
A spirit, pure and wise
A joy, only present in dreams
Standing before my eyes
A blessing for which each soul pines
Yet, few ever embrace
Embedded in this heart of mine
When I first saw your face.

The meeting came as a surprise
But when we met, that day
A flame, which I cannot disguise
Eased in my heart to stay
A bond so beautiful and right
Whose purpose, bound by grace
Has brought my life so much delight
Since I first saw your face.

An agile being, filled with cheer
A gift from God above
An angel, certain to appear
Infused my heart with love
A legacy of faith was found
Within that commonplace
The moment when I turned around
And saw your smiling face.
