With watermelons, barbecues, and merriment galore
We celebrate our freedom; nationwide, from shore to shore,
In the name of patriotism; for this country, strong and great
Honoring the July birthday of our grand United States.
We wave her colors proudly from dawn ‘til the dusk of day
For the rights we have been given or obtained along the way,
While thinking of the souls who’ve fallen, so that we could live to see
A sovereign nation of pure glory, held in peace and liberty.
Through vibrant displays of color in the fireworks we set
We applaud our forefathers’ visions; promising to ne’er forget;
That this land of lakes and rivers; rolling hills and fertile plains,
Is a place where dreams are tendered and desires still remain.
Every year, we praise the memory of the battles that were waged
In the bunkers and the culverts where our rivals were upstaged,
To protect a revelation that would never be denied
Which we rightfully acknowledge every Fourth of July.
