A poem comparing life to a ship aboard the rocky seas that swarm and finding the strength to traverse the waves.

Poem Artwork

A ship aboard the stormy seas
So aimlessly did roam
No calm to set her mind at ease
No place to call her home
Beneath the dark and dismal shroud
Where once a light had been
She sailed the course her heart allowed
And found vast strength within.

Sea foam caressed each starboard plank
Upon the vessel’s floor
And though, the night seemed drab and dank
She wanted nothing more
To others’ eyes, her circumstance
Was one of many fears
But often life, seen at first glance
Is not as it appears.

A ship aboard the stormy seas
Set on a wayward course
She made the best of what would be
By drowning raged remorse
Beneath the dark and dismal shroud
She found vast strength within
And sailed the path her heart allowed
Where only dreams had been.

Every dream became a beacon
To erase the ire and woe
That had caused her soul to weaken
Leaving only tears to flow
Once commanded by a riot
On an aimless ship at night
By the dawn, she was the pilot
As her dreams showed her the light.

Wonderful analogy. However, at one point I thought of her drowning her children.

Jill . . .
This was delightfully penned, and drew sobering parallels between sailing and real life.

You are a very consistent writer ...
