You were a brilliant writer
The greatest I have known
And while Heaven is brighter
The earth is left alone
Our world, once filled with wonder
From tales of life and friends
Seems dark without the thunder
That came from words you penned.

Each day when you awaken
On billowed clouds of white
The earth will be unshaken
By words you chose to write
Yet, while we should be grieving
The loss that life has wrought
We spend our time receiving
The lessons you have taught.

Your verses are the memory
Of life, lived at its best
And shall become your legacy
For which we are quite blessed
You were a brilliant writer
In kindness and in mind
Thus, our sorrow shall be lighter
Thanks to words you left behind.
