Two Roads Diverged

A poem about the passage of love

Tuesday, August 15, 2006

Poem Artwork

Two roads diverged today at dawn
Where once their paths had met
Both had memories to focus on
And anguish to forget
Each found their way, alone and free
Beneath the morning sun
Although their shoulders longed to be
Joined when the day was done.

The roads were once so smoothly bound
Connected heart to heart
With not a bump or pebble found
Nor reason to depart
Autumn had always been their friend
But time became a thief
That stole their love by summer’s end
And paved their trails in grief.

Two roads diverged today at dawn
Where once their paths had touched
Both had outlooks to focus on
And dreams to which they clutched
Although they went their separate ways
When morning light appeared
Their union shall linger, always
As love, long and revered.

It was not anger, angst or woe
That caused their roads to part
Their bond as rich as long ago
Still lives within his heart
His path and hers will meet again
Upon the stairs of gold
Where love exists and shall remain
A blessing to behold.

Dear Jill,

When we look in the dictionary for the word "beautiful", we find your poetry there.

Love, Light & Peace,

Some of the best meter I've read in a while, I can never get it that good. Fantastic poem of love, death and rebirth.

Jill, this is absolutely heart warming and what a way to look at love's separation. Only a very deep and caring love could look at parting with such a divine hope of what is to come. Well done.

Beautiful. Poetic. I could put it to music. It sounds like someone has lost a loved one. If I read that right, I will say, you will meet again in God's Heavenly Kingdom.
God Bless,
Lew
