A cloud of sorrow formed today
Filled with our loss and pain
When suddenly, the weight gave way
To pour grief-ridden rain
This shower fell into the sea
And joined with tears we cried
Because the man we longed to be
So senselessly had died.

A true defender of the law
Bound to protect and serve
His duty to never withdraw
From honor or his nerve
Our world was safer in his light
But when the day was nigh
The Lord deemed that the time was right
For him to say goodbye.

A cloud of sorrow formed today
Filled with our loss and pain
But while the weight had given way
To our grief-ridden rain
We know an angel found his place
Upon the golden stairs
Where he shall be amid God’s grace
And always in our prayers.
