No matter where this lifetime leads
Or how outcomes are based
I’ll be the answer to your needs
Despite the challenge faced
I’ll guard you with a watchful eye
To be sure you are well
Then, ease my way across the sky
Where angels choose to dwell.

I’ll shine a special beam of light
To brighten all your days
Then, rest within your heart at night
Beneath the moonlit rays
So you may slumber ‘neath the stars
‘til morning skies of peach
With dreams that once remained afar
Held firmly in your reach.

Despite the paths you opt to take
Or goals you will pursue
I’ll honor every choice you make
As a good friend would do
Although I seldom see your face
You are etched in my mind
For while you wage your earthen race
I’ll be one step behind.
