One day, when life was sinking low
And tears fell to the ground below
Her aching soul longed for a sign
That everything would be just fine
She yearned not for our sympathy
Our pity or our empathy
Content to face luck as it came
She did not feel remorse or blame.
To some, she walked this world alone
A wayward vagrant on her own
Her life seemed shamed, but deep inside
She held a deeper sense of pride
‘Twas her idea that love and grace
Were things that found their time and place
While, in her heart, she was quite sure
Her soul was destined to endure.
Each morn, she looked upon the blue
And to the stars when day was through
So firmly bound by the belief
The Lord would grant her sweet relief
Then, one fine day, into her sight
Appeared a sacred beam of light
To burn away the darkened cloud
That, for so long, had been her shroud.
No longer trapped by pain’s embrace
Her soul blossomed in love and grace
The beam allowed her grief to cease
Blessing her life with lasting peace
Never again did she have doubt
Or feel the need to live without
Her faith proved stronger than her plight
And shone beneath God’s beam of light.
