A metaphorical and fictional poem about yearning for better days

Poem Artwork

Sweet winter wind, please lead me home
Back to the place I long to roam
Where hills are etched in shades of green
And waters travel crisp and clean
Escort my heart, so I may rest
Where stillness triumphs o’er each test
Please lead my soul with all your might
For I have lost the will to fight.

Sweet winter wind, I pray you’ll blow
Your backing may be all I know
My eyes are tired; my soul is weak
I am without the strength to speak
My words could never share the void
Left when the things I once enjoyed
Became the brunt of grief and stress
Risking my bliss and happiness.

Sweet winter wind, please join me here
To cast aside my doubt and fear
So, I shall once again be free
To face the days ahead of me
Dear wind, please blow across my life
Restore my soul, well marred by strife
Command my heart from ‘cross the blue
For my future depends of you.

Dear Jill,

I never thought of the winter wind as "sweet" because I hate the cold but your poem has given me a new perspective.

Love & Light always and in all ways,
Joseph*

Think of that wind as the breath of God. When he breaths it upon you it is a cleansing force which wipes away all lifes cares and woes.

Wonderful. I wish for the wind to blow me back to West Virginia in the peak of winter spleandor. Your poem evocks that thought.

Loosing the will to fight is a dangerous place to be I would imagine. I pray that I never enter that forsaken land.

"Sweet Winter Wind" is a poignant heartcry that at once brought to mind a favorite movie of mine, "Chocolat" and its metaphoric "Northern Wind" that blew and brought change to the story-lines protagonist.

A fine write Jill. May the true spirit of this holiday season bring you much joy and health and revelation.

Light and Wisdom ...
