Likeness of You

A poem written in honor of my Dad's upcoming birthday.

Poem Artwork

Within my heart, there is a place
Where love is warm and wise
A site where sage wisdom and grace
Reside before the eyes
This spot, born from each lesson learned
And nurtured, year to year
Is one to which I have returned
In times of doubt and fear.

This dwelling carved upon my soul
Has forged a lasting bond
That brings my life needed control
While still remaining fond
A blessed view, so pure and clear
Rising for all to see –
Which represents what I hold dear
And what you mean to me.

The special place I feel inside
Mirrors your life, every day
Never could its worth be denied
Nor could it fade away
Each eve, as I pay my respects
When daylight hours are through
I realize that my soul reflects
A real likeness of you.
