Tonight, as sunshine fades away
And shadows reach the sea
Take time to pause, reflect and pray
For this land of the free
Pray for the troops who keep us sound
The bravest of the brave
Who fight for peacefulness abound
Our liberty to save.

Think of the warmth inside your walls
As you rest well, this night
Embrace the pictures down your halls
And the orange firelight
Then, pray for those who need a home
Where love and laughter grow
So, nevermore, will sadness roam
In places they shall know.

Look to the food upon your plate
And freshness of your drink
The hour might be getting late
Yet, take some time to think
About the souls who need some aid
Or a meal of their own
Then, be sure a prayer is conveyed
So, they won’t feel alone.

Tonight, as shadows slowly creep
Across our weary world
Before you close your eyes to sleep
Give thanks, with arms unfurled
Recite a prayer for every gift
You hold so very dear
Then, vow to give others a lift
Each day, throughout the year.
