Fare Thee Well: A Memorial

by Jill Eisnaugle — Read all 611 poems by Jill Eisnaugle

Poem Artwork

Fare thee well, almighty hero
As you walk into the sun
Make your way across green meadows
Your time on the earth is done
Rest upon the wings of angels
As they guide your spirit home
To the place where countless champions
Are ever destined to roam.

Fare thee well, as you trudge onward
Galloping across the blue
You will always be remembered
As a fighter, through and through
Your harsh challenges are over
Now, you are at peace and free
To rest softly in the clover
Beside Heaven’s apple tree.

Fare thee well, our precious stallion
As you journey ‘cross the sky
Your courage shall live forever
Beyond your final goodbye
Rest upon the wings of angels
'til you find your special cloud
You will always be a winner
Barbaro, you made us proud!
