You have opened a window to my heart
Where love and sunlight are now free to dwell
For through the lonely years we spent apart
I felt myself trapped, deep inside a shell
A place where darkness loomed and shadows stirred
Closed like the shutters in a winter storm
Alone to face each moment, right or wrong
With not an echoed blessing to be heard
Nor fire where a broken soul could warm
The recurring notes of life’s mournful song.

The sacred key nestled inside your hand
Beholds a final glimpse into the past
Where two romantics joined as one to stand
Pledging their vows for love to always last
Before them was a winding road of hope
Paved by the promise of eternal bliss
Though, dreams flew freely like a turtledove
They lacked all of the means needed to cope
And thus, the pair fell in a dark abyss
Far from the priceless art, known as their love.

Yet, now, I smell the soft scent of the breeze
And feel sweet adoration in my soul
Your smile has calmed my life’s oft rocky seas
While showing me a sense of self-control
Your presence has removed the ancient shroud
That had defended each day life would bring
In turn, my damaged heart has learned to grow
For I, the one once lost amid the crowd
With you, has risen like the lilies of the spring
Blooming, despite the sullen ground below.

Absolutely beautiful~ Jill, Isn't it amazing how one soul can regenerate another!
I believe, and this sounds strange, but...I think lilies are more than the beauty they reveal...? More than a flower... I have always thought about this one particular flower as something forebearing, something intermingling, something to continue to study. Don't ask me why, I just do! ????
Love and Peace~
Kimmy~
