Questions

A poem about the questioning the facets of life that we cannot explain or that we do not understand and how our lives can be lived to the fullest, if we never stop searching for answers.

While I look outside my window
As the clouds are passing by,
I must ask myself these questions
Since I often wonder why –
Why do birds travel so freely
While our feet must stay aground
Is it fate or are we really
Better off to be earthbound?
Does the ocean touch the shoreline
Or does sand caress the sea?
This is something that has always
Been quite confusing to me.
Why must every Monday morning
Find us destined for a frown?
Why when toast falls from the counter
Must it land, jelly side down?
By looking outside my window
I have found cause for concern
Since the world poses more questions
Than I will have time to learn
Yet, I know I will keep searching
With my heart and with my mind
For the answers to the issues
That have long bemused mankind.
