Whenever life has become tough
And this world feels much colder
Before you claim you’ve had enough
Please glance upon your shoulder
For there you’ll find a special friend
Who will serve as your guide
Around each rigid turn and bend
And ‘cross the ocean wide.

With your first glance, you may not know
Your friend is even there
But, her support will serve to grow
Until you are aware
While even then, you may not see
A being born on earth
You will have confidence that she
Will always prove her worth.

Whenever life has become hard
And burdens start to smolder
Before you choose to raise your guard
Please glance upon your shoulder
For there you’ll find a special friend
An angel from above
Who’ll rest beside you ‘til the end
To share God’s gift of love.
