She always lends a shoulder
Offering a helping hand
When this life seems much colder
Than a toddler’s mind had planned
She becomes your child’s hero
Though, her image is unknown
Clinging to each spoken secret
‘til her closeness is outgrown.

In your child’s eyes, she’s caring
She’s compassionate and true
Though, you’ll never see her staring
Across the bedroom toward you
You will learn of her existence
You will know her from the start
You will feel her strong persistence
And you’ll come to love her heart.

As the autumn turns to winter
And the years so quickly pass
Your child’s love for her will lessen
Like sand in an hourglass
Even though, you’ll never meet her
Her memory shall never end
Since these days have been made sweeter
By an imaginary friend.
