Summer Winds

by Jill Eisnaugle — Read all 611 poems by Jill Eisnaugle

A poem expressing the nature and our opinions of summer winds in the months of June through September and the changes that occur, during this time.

Summer winds, alive and free
Gently blowing, aimlessly
‘cross the oceans, wide and deep
Over mountains, rough and steep
Granting relief, where they may
On a sultry, mid-June day
‘til the sun sets in the west
Summer winds leave this world blessed.

Summer winds, soothing and slow
‘cross the meadows they shall blow
Sweet comfort, met with a sigh
As the world meets mid-July
Bringing coolness to the skin
Easing the heart, trapped within
‘til the world greets dark of night
Summer winds shall take to flight.

Summer winds, silent in sound
When mid-August rolls around
Steam rises from ground to sky
‘cross the field where grass is dry
Each soul praying for a break
Or a breath of air to take
‘til the heat utters farewell
Summer winds are a hard sell.

Summer winds, fading away
As September comes to stay
Soon, a chill blows ‘cross the breeze
Proof that autumn provides ease
Once again, as in mid-June
Pleasant breezes softly swoon
As to say, “Enjoy, my friends,
You’re freed from the summer winds.”

Beautiful poem. Summer winds are a vital part of nature as is the cold blustery winds of winter. You painted a beautiful picture with words.
God Bless,
Lew

Nicely expressed, Jill. Your kinship with nature shines through your verses. I can relate. Thank you. Love and peace,

Regis
