Good Enough

by Jill Eisnaugle — Read all 611 poems by Jill Eisnaugle

A fictional poem expressing how someone who is viewed as less than perfect in the eyes of one person can be "just right" in the eyes of another.

In others’ eyes, you may not be
What some would call the best
Some people simply cannot see
Kind spirits are quite blessed
While some observe your outer shell
I see the deeper view
Your inner good has served you well
And led me here with you.

In others’ hearts, you may not hold
The title of perfection
To them, the truth remains untold
Closed to their own dissection
Excellence lies within the soul
And deep inside, you’re strong
The wealth of kindness you extol
Has proved where I belong.

In others’ minds, you may not share
A sense of poise and charm
But, in my heart, I know you care
And pose this world no harm
Your mellow side is sweet and sound
In days, reckless and rough
You may not be the best around
But, to me, you’re good enough.

The beauty is in the beholder. I beheld a beautiful poem, Jill.

Good message in this, especially since I am one who is "not good enough" in society's eyes: disabled, people tend to look at my physical disabilities more than getting to know the real me; very frustrating.

(((HUGS))) and much love, your friend in Burleson, Karen Lynn. :(

This poem is "good enough" to be enjoyable and insightful, and it reveals your own kindhearted view of others.
I sure like your style! Your work is meticulous in its rhyme, rhythm, Grammar and punctuation. I like to read things that are excellent quality as well as great content!

Sincerely,
Connie
