He was a man of moral strength
A good provider and a friend
Someone who’d go to any length
To finish each task by day’s end
He never sought to relish fame
Always content to live his life
He was proud of his family name
And his love for his precious wife.
He owned less than he could afford
Trivial matters, he would shun
Each night, he kneeled before his Lord
Grateful, he was a miner’s son
He was not rich, by any means
And yet, his family thrived in wealth –
Not the assets made with machines
But, those found deep within oneself.
He was a man whose meager start
Prepared him for the days ahead
He gave completely from his heart –
Such an upstanding life, he led
I pray when others think of him
They do so, in a moment’s pause
He would not want to take from them
Such is the kind of man, he was.
