One Sunday morning, the skyline above me
Appeared dark and lonely, no sunlight in view
The clouds, thick and towered, seemed dreadfully ugly
And yet, I soon realized I had not a clue
I traveled the roadway; a light drizzle followed
The pavement and shoulder, both equally wet
Yet, this trek would prove my life was, indeed, hallowed
Thanks to a mere moment, I’ll never forget.
A half mile from Westfall, I turned off the freeway
The drizzle had left my mind in quite a daze
The showers poured onward, providing no leeway
My vision seemed lost amid the clouds and haze
As thoughts began spinning, swiftly as a funnel
Suddenly, I felt I would lose all control
I stopped on the shoulder, near Buckingham Tunnel
Shortly before a change came into my soul.
The rains were relentless, pouring tears ‘cross the valley
Yet, those tears meant nothing, compared to the ones
I felt in my heart for our union’s finale
When faced with the knowledge that our time was done
One Sunday morning, the skyline above me
Appeared dark and lonely, no sunlight in view
The clouds, thick and towered, seemed dreadfully ugly
As I recalled every memory of you.
Soon after, I could not remain disappointed
Though I sat alone, ‘neath the darkness above
The clouds swiftly parted and sunlight anointed
My heart with the soothing balm, known as God’s love
That Sunday has left my heart fearless and daring
Headstrong for each battle, should one come my way
‘twas then, that I learned God is gracious and caring
Even when clouds of sadness lead the heart astray.
