I stand here before you, a man of my word
To ask quite a favor, the largest you’ve heard
I treasure your daughter, much more than my life
I’d love nothing more than to make her my wife
I promise that I will keep her safe from harm
And always be certain to treat her with charm
Our path may not always be covered in gold
But, I vow that my love for her will not grow old.
I cannot be certain life will go as planned
But, with your permission, I shall take her hand
And we will, together, conquer what shall be
Two hearts bound by love to last eternally
I’ll honor you both, as a son-in-law must
I’ll work hard to receive your respect and trust
I’ll look toward the bright new tomorrows ahead
If you will permit your daughter to thee wed.
I stand here before you, a man lost in love
I’ve been given a gift that God sent from above
An angel, a princess, a woman, a friend
Your daughter, for whom my love shall never end
I hope you can understand the way I feel
And give me your blessing, to make my dream real
Since nothing in life matters as much to me
Than my future wife, if to this, you’ll agree?
