Leo’s Memory

by Jill Eisnaugle — Read all 611 poems by Jill Eisnaugle

A poem written as the result of a request from a woman who wished a tribute in memory of a kind-hearted friend.

Leo was a gentle man
A humble soul; someone sincere
A servant with a chosen plan
He held the needs of others near
He greeted each day with a smile
While ending each one with a prayer
A self-made man of class and style
Leo spread goodness, everywhere.

Leo was a busy man
An active soul; successful, too
He’d been that way, since time began
And worked until his life was through
Even when his life became grave
He vowed to not accept defeat
Though frail, he shared a friendly wave
With anyone he’d come to meet.

Leo was a special man
A gift to earth; someone adored
A servant who finished his plan
Then, loyally rejoined the Lord
He was a faithful spouse and friend
A man blessed with his dignity
Although, his life has reached its end
We’ll treasure Leo’s memory.

The likes of Leo in this world are few and very far between, all we can do is be thankful when we are lucky enough to come into contact with these hearts open to hearts.
