I Have Hope

A poem about having hope, appreciating and accepting the past, and looking ahead to the possibilities of a brighter future.

I have hope that tomorrow will bring better times
Without need for worry or mountains to move
My heart has grown weary of life’s earthly climbs
I’ve no doubt the future will serve to improve
I dream of the sunrise, each time my eyes close
And pray for this blessing; a Heavenly sign
But, if daylight breaks just the same, I suppose
I will trudge ahead, per God’s own design.

I have hope that tomorrow will bring brighter news
Removed from the sadness befalling the earth
My heart has grown weary of having to choose
Between talk of war and a hurricane’s birth
I listen to music to deaden the mourning
I try to stay focused when life becomes strange
I realize that grief can come forth without warning
But, hope that the Lord will bless me with a change.

I have hope that tomorrow will bring new beginnings
With crystal blue skies forming in my view
My heart, worn and weary, longs to reap its winnings
And live happily until life is through
I dream of the sunrise and pray for a blessing
Even if the effort brings no peace of mind
Sometimes, the Lord chooses to leave our souls guessing
So, we will be grateful for days left behind.

There is always hope just on the horizon; it is ours for the taking. And a smile along the way also helps.
