Today, I Saw a Feather

by Jill Eisnaugle — Read all 611 poems by Jill Eisnaugle

A poem about surviving amid hardship, accepting life as it comes, keeping an open mind for changes, and never losing faith that things will work out fine.

Poem Artwork

Today, I saw a feather
Gliding across the air
I wondered, in this weather
How one so small could fare
But, through the claps of thunder
The feather trudged ahead
Although it was held under
A likely source of dread.

Today, I saw a feather
Dancing amid the rain
The two had fun together
With no need to complain
The sight was like none other
The pair had made amends
Each found, in one another
The unlikeliest of friends.

Today, I saw a feather
Resting, when day was through
It had survived the weather
And taught me something, too
When life seems very fragile
And roads are much to bear
Continue on; be agile
Soon, God will hear your prayer.

How true, how true, Jill. God answers in one of three ways: yes, no and not right now.

Today I saw a feather. I added it to my war bonnet. Soon, I will be chief.

Wonderful write. We may feel delicate. We are delicate but we need to rely on strength in God to see us through. The same God who makes the thunder made you and I.
God Bless,
Lew

Marvelous message in rhyming, perfect poetry: well done.

Glad Dean is waaaaaaaay south of Texas: getting any effects? We're high and dry in NorthCentral Texas. :)
