Our character shows deep inside who we are
The pillars of strength, flesh and bone often bar
The wisdom that over the years has accrued
Within the heart, where it is often unviewed
A beautiful mould and a compass for life
A roadmap to guide us throughout stress and strife
Our character builds us and thus, we mature
With every dilemma our lives must endure.

Although, our lives do not always have a choice
Our character leads us and grants us a voice
In times of uncertainty, our qualities lead
Until we are able to obtain each need
Our character boosts us when we’re feeling low
Serving as a beacon for which way to go
If we harbor faith in the path that must be
We’ll conquer each moment of adversity.

Our character proves who we are in this world
The beauty within us, not often unfurled
The wild and the crazy; the solemn and sweet –
All traits found within us that make life complete
The journey through life can be rocky and long
But, our moral fabric, through right and through wrong
Will lift our lives beyond the darkest of days
So, we will be at peace, both now and always.
